Welcome to Year 2

In Year 2 our classroom is full of happy, smiley faces! There is quite a big transition from the Reception/Year 1 class into Year 2, as we move away from the Foundation Stage’s 6 areas of learning and move entirely into the Key Stage One curriculum, which although is more formally structured, still has plenty of opportunities to learn with an exploratory, hands-on approach through our fun and creative topics. The children soon settle into their new daily routines, and as a result show noticeably improved levels of maturity during the course of the year. We encourage Year 2 children to take more of a responsibility for their belongings, their actions and their learning, to ensure they are as well-equipped as possible as they prepare to move into Key Stage Two.
